Losing my brother was undeniably the worst thing that has happened to me in my lifetime. I was 7 years old and we were inseparable. When our mom started Jensen's Heart of Gold, I knew I had to be a part of it. At the time, I loved to paint and make crafts and jewelry.
At the first event in 2011, I set up a table with a few of my things and was amazed that they all sold out. The next year, I doubled my production and once again sold out. It was that second year that a couple of people even asked me to commission a painting. J & J treasures was born.
Over the next few years, I raised well over $10,000 in my own efforts through various school coin drives and my art sales. Becoming a teenager brought more commitments with work, school, and sports, so my time dedicated to art has significantly decreased. I continue my efforts in spreading awareness of childhood cancer, raising funds, and recruiting youth volunteers to aide my family in this growing legacy.
If you would like to be a part of something bigger than yourself that assists our peers in our own community that are suffering with this terrible disease, please contact me for ways you can be involved!
